Deadly Earthquake Struck Afghanistan: 800 Killed, Several Injured

Kabul: A powerful earthquake struck Afghanistan, leaving more than 800 people dead and 2800 injured.

According to Afghan news agency Khaama Press, the quake occurred at 11:47 p.m. local time with a magnitude of 6.0, followed about 20 minutes later by a 4.5 magnitude tremor in the same province, recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Afghan officials confirmed that Kunar province was the worst affected, reporting hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. Authorities stated that many victims remain trapped under the rubble, and rescue operations are ongoing.

According to reports, the quake caused severe damage to dozens of houses, with many collapsing into rubble in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.

The epicenter was near Jalalabad city in Nangarhar province, with a recorded depth of 8 kilometers.

The Afghan government has appealed to aid organizations for immediate assistance in rescue operations.
