iPhone 16 taking hours to charge? Here’s how to fast charge it
The iPhone 16 has a strong battery, but charging speed depends on the charger you use. With a basic slow charger, it may take up to four hours to fully charge. But with the right accessories, you can charge it much faster — 50% in 30 minutes and 100% in about two hours.
Why Your iPhone 16 Charges Slowly
If your iPhone 16 feels slow while charging, the problem is usually the charger. With iOS 18, Apple now shows a warning in Settings > Battery when your phone is charging at slow speed. Switching to a faster charger can save you hours.
Fast Charging with USB-C
The iPhone 16 supports fast charging up to 27 watts using its USB-C port. To use this feature, you need a USB-C cable and a 30-watt or higher power adapter.
Recommended chargers:
Apple’s 35-watt dual charger
Mophie’s 30-watt compact charger
With these, your iPhone 16 can charge to 50% in 30 minutes and reach 100% in two hours. Even with a 20-watt charger, charging is still fairly quick, just a little slower.
Fast Wireless Charging with MagSafe
The iPhone 16 also supports faster wireless charging through MagSafe. With a 30-watt adapter, MagSafe can deliver up to 25 watts, allowing your phone to charge to 50% in about 30 minutes and fully charge in around two hours.
Although wireless charging loses a bit of efficiency due to heat, it is now almost as fast as wired charging — making it very convenient.
