iPhone 16 series in Pakistan has a major fault, not covered by warranty

03 September, 2025 18:09

Buyers of the new iPhone 16 series, especially the high-end iPhone 16 Pro Max, are facing serious problems that have left them shocked and frustrated.

Despite paying record prices for PTA-approved devices — some costing over Rs. 600,000 — many users say their phones freeze completely during calls or while checking messages.

The problem makes the phone unresponsive, meaning users cannot answer urgent calls or even use basic functions. A survey in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad found dozens of customers struggling with this glitch.

One disappointed buyer in Islamabad said: “I bought the Pro Max thinking I was upgrading to the best in the world, but it freezes on me at the most critical moments. I feel cheated.”

Complaints are pouring in from Karachi, particularly from customers of The Apple Shop at Star City Mall in Saddar. Buyers say vendors are refusing responsibility, claiming they only sell sealed imported sets.

The official distributor has also offered little help, usually suggesting factory resets or telling users to contact the Apple helpline. But since Apple has no formal presence in Pakistan, support has been limited and ineffective.

Some reports suggest the issue might be linked to local network providers. However, customers argue that the same SIM cards work perfectly in older iPhones. International buyers are also reporting the same problem online.

On Reddit, users explained that the phone works fine when receiving calls from non-Apple devices, but freezes during calls from other iPhones. Even Apple’s official support has not provided a clear fix.

Frustrated customers in Pakistan have approached the police and FIA, but were redirected to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Critics say the PTA, which collects heavy taxes on every imported iPhone, should take responsibility for protecting buyers.

So far, Apple has not responded to requests for comment, and the problem continues to leave many iPhone 16 owners with expensive but unreliable devices.
