Water Levels in Punjab Rivers Begin to Recede, Says PDMA

Saturday, September 6, 2025 – The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has confirmed that water levels in major rivers across the province are gradually receding. At the same time, urban flooding in Gujrat is being controlled through active relief operations.

Flooding Situation in Gujrat

According to DG PDMA, breaches in the main drains of Gujrat caused severe urban flooding after continuous heavy rainfall.
He said: “Drainage work is underway, and the situation is expected to improve within the next 12 to 18 hours.”

Water Flow in Sutlej River

The PDMA chief reported that the Sutlej River is showing a downward water trend in Kasur, Head Islam, and Sulemanki. He added that levels will continue to recede gradually over the coming days.

Situation in Multan and Chenab River

In Multan, water conditions have also improved. At Head Muhammadwala, water levels have fallen compared to earlier days.

Meanwhile, a high flood wave in the Chenab River has reached Chiniot Bridge, while the flow at Head Panjnad has been recorded at 325,000 cusecs.

Authorities assured that continuous monitoring and relief work are in progress to protect people living near rivers and low-lying areas.
