Woman Killed in Ibiza as ‘Drugged-Up’ Irish Driver Mounts Pavement

A tragic accident in Ibiza has claimed the life of a 23-year-old British woman after an Irish driver, allegedly under the influence of nitrous oxide, mounted the pavement with his Jeep Wrangler. Two other British women were injured in the incident, with one now fighting for her life in hospital.

The collision occurred at around 11:15 am in the Es Pueto area near San Antonio. Local police confirmed the driver, a 30-year-old Irish national, was arrested at the scene. He faces charges of reckless driving, manslaughter due to gross negligence, and causing serious injury, with investigators stating he had consumed “deadly laughing gas moments before the accident.”

A spokesman for San Jose Town Hall said: “San Jose Local Police today arrested an Irish driver after he hit three people in the Es Pueto area, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries.” Authorities are now analyzing the vehicle’s control unit for more details.

The deceased victim was rushed to Nuestra Señora del Rosario Polyclinic but later died of her injuries. Another victim remains in critical condition, while the third is described as stable.

Witnesses recalled the horror, with one waiter named Youssef saying: “First we heard a loud bang, then we saw the lamppost the car had knocked down and one of the girls flying through the air before landing on the road.”

The suspect, who has not yet been named, remains in custody and is expected to appear in court soon. Police confirmed they are working closely with the Civil Guard and emergency services as investigations continue.

This tragedy follows a recent spate of road accidents involving British tourists in Ibiza, with families urging greater safety measures.
