Chinese Actor and Singer Yu Menglong Dies After Fall in Beijing at Age 37

Chinese actor and singer Yu Menglong, best known for his role in the hit drama Eternal Love, has died at the age of 37. His management confirmed the news on Thursday, September 11, 2025, saying the star had “fallen to his death” in Beijing.

Yu Menglong Studio released a statement on Weibo, China’s biggest social media platform.
“With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death on Sept 11. Police have ruled out any criminality. We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong,” the statement read.

Police confirmed that there was no foul play, though investigations into the incident are ongoing.

What Happened Before His Death

Reports in local media claimed Yu was spending the night at a friend’s apartment with a small group of friends. He went to sleep around 2 am, locking his room. When his friends woke up at 6 am, they could not find him. Moments later, his body was discovered on the ground floor by a resident walking their dog. Authorities were alerted immediately.

Yu Menglong’s Career

Yu Menglong first gained public attention in 2013 when he competed on the singing contest Super Boy, finishing in 10th place. He released his debut single Just Nice the same year.

His breakthrough came in 2015 when he starred as the 9th prince in the web drama Go Princess Go. Two years later, he became internationally recognized for his role as Bai Zhen in Eternal Love. The fantasy romance drama was a massive success, reaching over 50 billion views in just 18 months.

Alongside acting, Yu was also a successful singer. In 2016, he released his debut album Toy. He later starred in other dramas such as Xuan-Yuan Sword: Han Cloud, Legend of the White Snake, and Who’s Not Rebellious Youth. His final roles were in the 2020 web series The Love Lasts Two Minds and The Moon Brightens For You.
