SRK’s Son Aryan Khan Faces Controversy After NHRC Raises Concerns Over a Scene in His Web Series

The recently released web series The Ba**ds of Bollywood, written and directed by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, has garnered widespread attention since its debut on Netflix. Produced by Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s wife and Aryan’s mother, the seven-episode series has received largely positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

Despite its popularity, the show has ignited controversy. India’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised concerns over a scene featuring Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor using an electronic cigarette (vape). The NHRC has urged the Mumbai Police to file a case against Ranbir Kapoor, the producers, and Netflix, claiming that the vaping scene was shown without any prior warning or disclaimer and could negatively influence young viewers.

The commission has also written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, requesting action to ban such content. Furthermore, the NHRC has directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to register a First Information Report (FIR) against those involved for violating the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act 2019.

Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the series features guest appearances by several prominent Bollywood actors, including Ranveer Singh, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Imran Hashmi, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao. The main cast comprises Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Raghu Juyal, Mona Singh, Sahir Bamba, and Anya Singh.

The Ba**ds of Bollywood has sparked debate not only for its storytelling but also for the regulatory concerns it raises, highlighting ongoing discussions around content guidelines and the influence of digital entertainment on youth in India.
