How to Apply for Driving License Online – Easy Process Explained

Islamabad Traffic Police has introduced a new Online E-Learner’s Permit scheme, allowing citizens to apply for their learner’s driving permit from the comfort of their homes.
Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Hamza Humayun stated that the initiative reflects the department’s efforts to modernize public services and improve accessibility for residents seeking licenses.
Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has also announced an extension in the deadline for obtaining valid driving licenses, giving citizens time until October 7, 2025, to complete the process.
According to officials, the online system eliminates the need for citizens to physically visit traffic offices for routine licensing requirements. Applicants can now conveniently submit their details through the official portal at dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk.
However, authorities warned that from October 8, 2025, strict enforcement will begin. Motorists found driving without a valid license will face legal action, including arrest and vehicle impoundment.
Officials further clarified that the deadline extension aims to provide citizens additional time and facilities to complete the licensing process. To accommodate the surge in applicants, special service counters have been set up across the city.
