Ishaq Dar Addresses Diplomatic Course Graduation, Highlights Pakistan’s Global Diplomatic Reach

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar addressed the graduation ceremony of the 45th Specialized Diplomatic Course (SDC) at the Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad, highlighting the institution’s vital role in preparing Pakistan’s diplomats to represent the country on the global stage.
During the ceremony, Ishaq Dar congratulated the graduating officers and their families and underscored the Foreign Service Academy’s longstanding contribution to Pakistan’s diplomatic service.
The Foreign Minister noted that the academy has played an important role not only in training Pakistan’s Foreign Service officers but also in strengthening international diplomatic cooperation. According to him, the academy has trained more than 1,600 diplomats from 122 countries over the years.
Ishaq Dar emphasised that effective diplomacy requires more than professional knowledge. He said Pakistani diplomats must demonstrate sound judgment, strong character and a deep understanding of national interests while engaging with the international community.
He highlighted the expanding scope of modern diplomacy, stressing the importance of advancing Pakistan’s interests across political, economic, technological and educational spheres, as well as through people-to-people relations.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister also expressed appreciation to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for providing financial support for the renovation of the Foreign Service Academy.
He described China’s assistance as another reflection of the close and enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
The renovation initiative is aimed at further improving the academy’s facilities and strengthening its capacity to train future generations of Pakistani diplomats.
Addressing the graduating officers, Ishaq Dar urged them to serve Pakistan with professionalism, integrity and compassion.
He stressed that Pakistan’s national interests should remain at the centre of their diplomatic responsibilities and encouraged the officers to approach their careers with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility.
The Foreign Minister also wished the graduating diplomats success in their future assignments, as they prepare to take on responsibilities representing Pakistan abroad.
The ceremony marked an important milestone for the graduating officers while also highlighting the Foreign Service Academy’s broader contribution to international diplomatic training and Pakistan’s engagement with the global community.
