India Captain Skips Trophy Photoshoot with Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha Ahead of Asia Cup Final
Ahead of the highly anticipated Asia Cup final, the traditional joint trophy photoshoot between the captains of Pakistan and India did not take place, it was revealed on Sunday.
Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was absent from the scheduled photoshoot with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha, resulting in Salman posing alone with the trophy before the crucial match.
The Indian team management later informed the Indian media that they had not been notified by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about any planned trophy shoot, asserting that the event was never officially scheduled.
Earlier reports on Saturday indicated that the trophy shoot might not be held, with a final decision on the captains posing together pending until just before the match.
When asked during a pre-match press conference about his views on the trophy shoot and the possibility of India skipping the event, Agha responded: “They can do whatever they want. We will follow the protocol. Rest is up to them, if they want to come or not.”
