Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali suffers heart attack
Former Pakistan Test cricketer Basit Ali has suffered a heart attack and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Karachi, according to reports.
Basit Ali reportedly experienced chest pain and discomfort before being taken to the hospital. Doctors later performed an angioplasty, and his condition is now being closely monitored.
Sources said the former cricketer is expected to remain under observation for the next two days while doctors monitor his recovery.
Basit Ali, 55, represented Pakistan from 1993 to 1996. He played 19 Tests and 50 One-Day Internationals for the national team.
He scored 858 runs in Test cricket, including one century, while he made 1,265 runs in ODIs, with one century and nine fifties.
Known as an aggressive right-handed batsman, Basit made his international debut during Pakistan’s 1993 tour of the West Indies. One of his notable performances came in 1993 when he scored an unbeaten 127 against the West Indies in Sharjah.
After retiring from international cricket, Basit Ali remained involved in the sport through coaching and cricket analysis. He has also regularly shared his views on Pakistan’s national team and cricket affairs.
