Dubai, Sunday, September 28, 2025 – India lifted the Asia Cup trophy once again after defeating Pakistan by five wickets in a tense final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing a target of 147 runs, the defending champions crossed the line in 19.4 overs despite losing early wickets.

Batting first, Pakistan looked in control as openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman added a quick 84-run stand. Farhan smashed 57 off 38 balls with five fours and three sixes, while Fakhar contributed 46 runs from 35 balls.

However, the momentum shifted after Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Farhan in the 10th over. Kuldeep Yadav later removed Saim Ayub (14), sparking a middle-order collapse. Pakistan lost their last nine wickets for just 33 runs, finishing all out at 146 in 19.1 overs.

India’s run chase started poorly as Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi tore through the top order. Abhishek Sharma (5), skipper Suryakumar Yadav (1), and Shubman Gill (12) fell cheaply, leaving India at 20/3.

Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma steadied the innings with a 57-run partnership. Samson scored 24 before falling to Abrar Ahmed. Varma, however, remained unbeaten on 69 off 53 balls, hitting four sixes and three fours.

All-rounder Shivam Dube provided vital support with 33 runs before Faheem dismissed him in the 19th over. Varma held his nerve, guiding India to victory in the final over.

For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf impressed with figures of 3/29, while Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed picked one wicket each. For India, Varun Chakravarthy shone with 4/30, while Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav shared six wickets between them.

This victory added another Asia Cup title to India’s glittering record. Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s decision to bowl first proved decisive as his bowlers staged a remarkable comeback. Pakistan’s batting collapse overshadowed their strong start, while India’s middle-order fightback sealed the crown.
