Sahibzada Farhan Breaks Abhishek Sharma’s Record in T20I Series

Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan has set a new batting record in a three-match series between two full-member international teams, surpassing India’s Abhishek Sharma after scoring 238 runs against Sri Lanka.

Farhan achieved the milestone during the third and final T20 international on Tuesday. He finished the series with three consecutive half-centuries, averaging 79.33 and recording a strike rate of 165.27. His outstanding performances earned him the Player of the Series award.

The record had previously belonged to Abhishek Sharma, who scored 229 runs in India’s three-match home T20I series against Afghanistan earlier this year. Farhan’s aggregate of 238 runs moved him ahead of the Indian batter for the highest individual run tally in a three-match T20I series between two full-member teams.

Farhan was appointed Pakistan’s regular T20I captain before the Sri Lanka series. His performances made his first home series in the role particularly memorable, even though Pakistan lost the final match.

A series defined by three half-centuries

Farhan began the series with an explosive innings of 89 from 53 deliveries. His contribution helped Pakistan chase a target of 183 and secure a four-wicket victory.

He maintained his form in the second match, scoring 73 off just 44 balls. Pakistan posted a commanding total of 215 for three wickets, putting the visitors under considerable pressure. Sri Lanka managed only 133 for seven in its allotted 20 overs, allowing Pakistan to win comfortably and take an unassailable lead in the series.

The final match brought another half-century from the Pakistan captain. Farhan scored 76 off 47 balls, helping the hosts reach 168. However, Sri Lanka recovered from its earlier defeats and chased down the target for the loss of only two wickets, securing its sole victory of the series.

Despite the defeat in the final match, Pakistan won the three-match contest 2–1.

A major milestone for Pakistan cricket

Farhan’s consistency across all three matches was central to Pakistan’s series victory. His ability to score quickly while maintaining substantial innings gave Pakistan strong starts and helped establish competitive totals.

The new record also places his performance among the most productive individual batting displays in a three-match T20I series between full-member teams.

For Pakistan, the series delivered both a team victory and a landmark individual achievement. Farhan’s 238 runs, three half-centuries and Player of the Series award marked an impressive start to his tenure as the team’s regular T20I captain.

His record-breaking performance against Sri Lanka has added a significant milestone to Pakistan’s T20 international history.
