Elon Musk Ends Netflix Subscription Over Controversial Content
Elon Musk has cancelled his Netflix subscription because he disagrees with the content on the platform. He was upset about comments made by Hamish Steele, the director of the animated show “Dead End: Paranormal Park,” who made controversial remarks on social media.
Musk shared his decision by replying “Same” to a post by Matt Van Swol, who also cancelled Netflix for hiring someone who “celebrated the murder of Charlie Kirk” and for showing pro-trans content. Musk has been open about his opposition to gender identity themes, influenced by his experience with his daughter’s transition.
The show “Dead End: Paranormal Park” features LGBTQ+ characters, and some people criticize it for promoting certain ideas to children. Musk called Steele a “groomer” in response to these concerns. However, fans of the show defend it, saying it offers positive representation and that Musk’s comments are harmful to queer creators.
This is not the first time Musk has publicly criticized a company over ideological differences. He has also talked about creating his own alternatives to popular platforms he thinks are “too woke,” like a Wikipedia competitor called Grokipedia.
Netflix has not yet responded to Musk’s cancellation or the controversy about Steele’s comments, and the show is still available on Netflix.
