Cristiano Ronaldo Shines at 40, Wins Globe Prestige Award
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to prove he is far from finished. At 40 years old, the Portuguese star remains a key player for both Al Nassr and Portugal’s national team.
Despite not playing in Europe anymore, Ronaldo is still a major force in world football. He recently received the Globe Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes 2025, recognizing his lasting impact on the game.
Ronaldo Close to Another World Record
Ronaldo is just one goal away from becoming the top scorer in FIFA World Cup qualifying history. He currently has 39 goals in qualifiers, the same as Guatemala’s Carlos “Pescadito” Ruiz. Scoring in the upcoming matches would break the record.
He already holds records for:
Most international goals (141)
Most international appearances (223)
🇵🇹 Portugal’s Road to the 2026 World Cup
Portugal is preparing for two important World Cup qualifying matches:
October 11 vs Ireland
October 14 vs Hungary
Both games will be played in Lisbon, at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. Wins in both matches would put Portugal very close to securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
During his award speech, Ronaldo made it clear that retirement is not coming soon.
“My plan is clear – I want to continue playing football for a few more years. I’m still helping my club and country. Why stop now?”
He also thanked his teammates and praised the younger generation of Portuguese players:
“I want to thank all my teammates and this young generation. We all want to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.”
The veteran striker says he stays focused by living in the moment:
“I live day by day, no long-term plans. I enjoy every training session, every match.”
