Main entrance to motorway closed amid security concerns

LAHORE: Authorities have sealed all routes leading to the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway as security has been tightened ahead of a rally planned by a religious political party.

Tensions began late last night when police raided the party’s headquarters in Punjab to arrest its leader. The operation led to violent clashes between security forces and party supporters, who reportedly attacked police with stones and iron rods. At least three policemen were injured during the incident.

In response, police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, turning the area into a tense conflict zone.

The party had earlier announced a major protest outside the US Embassy in Islamabad on Friday to demonstrate against Israel.
