Karachi Traffic Police introduce tough new rules for Qingqi rickshaws

14 October, 2025 13:29

The Karachi Traffic Police have started a new campaign to take strict action against traffic rule violations, especially by Qingqi rickshaw drivers and overcrowded vehicles.

The decision came after a meeting at the DIG Traffic Karachi office, attended by senior traffic officers and representatives of transport associations. Officials agreed that no Qingqi rickshaw will be allowed to carry more than five passengers. Strict action will also be taken against double parking, overspeeding, and one-way violations.

Authorities said they will use the faceless e-challan system to ensure transparency and fairness in the process. They also plan to educate drivers about traffic rules to prevent accidents and improve road discipline.

Transport representatives welcomed the e-ticketing system and promised full support. Both sides agreed to organize training programs for drivers to promote safe and responsible driving.

In another important move, the meeting decided that all minibuses and coaches in Karachi must install GPS tracking devices by October 27, 2025, to help monitor routes and improve safety.
