27th Death Anniversary of Hakeem Muhammad Saeed Observed Today

Friday, October 17 – Today marks the 27th death anniversary of Hakeem Muhammad Saeed, a renowned scholar, medical researcher, philanthropist, and former Governor of Sindh. People across Pakistan are remembering his lifelong services in education, healthcare, and social welfare.

Hakeem Muhammad Saeed was born on January 9, 1920, in Delhi. After the partition of the subcontinent in 1947, he migrated to Pakistan with his family. He dedicated his entire life to nation-building and public service.

Upon his arrival in Pakistan, he founded Hamdard Dawakhana, which soon expanded its branches across the country. His vision was not limited to traditional medicine; he wanted to build institutions that would educate and inspire future generations.

In 1991, he established Hamdard University, one of Pakistan’s pioneering private universities, offering education in medicine, engineering, and management sciences.

Hakeem Saeed authored numerous books on religion, Tibb (herbal medicine), health sciences, literature, and travel. His writing style reflected simplicity, wisdom, and patriotism. He also launched magazines to promote health awareness and moral education among youth.

Known for his honesty and discipline, Hakeem Saeed was deeply committed to the welfare of Pakistan. He always believed in character-building through education and ethical values. He regularly addressed students, urging them to serve the nation with integrity.

On October 17, 1998, Hakeem Muhammad Saeed was assassinated by unknown attackers in Karachi’s Arambagh area. His death shocked the nation. However, his legacy continues through Hamdard University, Hamdard Foundation, and the countless lives he touched.
