Pakistan, US Discuss Maritime Security During Navy Chief’s Visit

Washington: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf is on an official visit to the United States, where he held key meetings with senior American naval and civil leadership to strengthen maritime cooperation between the two countries.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf met separately with the U.S. Deputy Chief of Naval Operations and the Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard. These meetings focused on regional security, professional training, and enhancing naval collaboration.

The Naval Chief also visited the prestigious National Defense University, where he held discussions with the university’s president, Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin. Both sides exchanged views on professional military education and strategic maritime issues.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf also visited the U.S. State Department and met with Stanley L. Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs. They discussed regional maritime security and ways to deepen bilateral defense cooperation.

In addition to official meetings, the Naval Chief addressed American scholars and think tank experts. He highlighted Pakistan Navy’s role in addressing regional maritime security challenges and emphasized the importance of joint efforts in maintaining peace at sea.

This visit is expected to further strengthen maritime security ties and overall defense collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.
