Israeli Forces Detain Three Palestinians as Settler Attacks Intensify Across West Bank
TULKARM: Israeli occupation forces detained three Palestinians from the Tulkarm Governorate early Saturday morning, as violent settler attacks continued to escalate across the occupied West Bank.
According to local sources, the arrests are part of Israel’s ongoing crackdown on Palestinian civilians, especially in areas witnessing increased resistance to settlement expansion and military raids.
On Friday evening, Israeli settlers launched a violent assault on the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, setting several vehicles on fire in the western part of the village. The head of the village council, Amin Abu Aliya, said that unarmed residents confronted the settlers and eventually forced them to withdraw.
After the attack, Israeli forces stormed the village, further heightening tensions, although no injuries were reported. Earlier in the day, settlers also pelted Palestinian vehicles with stones near the Marj Sa’i plain, between al-Mughayyir and Abu Falah.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli settlers have carried out more than 7,150 attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank since October 7, 2023. These assaults have resulted in the deaths of 34 Palestinians and caused extensive damage to homes, vehicles, and farmland.
Observers warn that continued settler violence and military raids are deepening instability in the occupied territories and undermining prospects for peace.
