Water Supply Suspended in Three Karachi Districts for Two Days — Full Details Inside

28 October, 2025 10:24

The Karachi Water Corporation has announced that the water supply in parts of the city will remain suspended for two days, starting October 28 till October 29, 2025. The suspension will affect three key districts: West, Keamari, and Central.

According to official reports, the Hub Canal, which is under the jurisdiction of WAPDA, will be completely closed for 48 hours. The Project Director of Hub Dam (WAPDA) notified the Water Corporation about the temporary shutdown.

Reason Behind the Closure

Authorities explained that the closure is necessary to carry out a detailed survey and repair work along the Hub Dam to X-Regulator section. This maintenance is part of a broader effort to improve water flow and repair infrastructure that has faced issues due to aging pipelines and leakage concerns.

Officials assured that the decision was taken to ensure long-term water stability and prevent major technical faults in the future.

Areas Affected by the Water Cut

The two-day suspension will impact the following districts:

  • West District

  • Keamari District

  • Central District

Residents in these areas may experience low pressure or complete water shortage during the maintenance period.

Karachi Water Corporation Issues Advisory

In a public statement, the Karachi Water Corporation has urged citizens to use water carefully and store sufficient quantities ahead of the maintenance schedule.

The department further stated that the water supply will be restored immediately once the work is completed and systems are tested for proper flow.

Authorities also mentioned that updates will be shared through official channels as soon as normal water supply resumes.

Public Reaction

The announcement has caused concern among residents, especially those in densely populated areas of Orangi, Nazimabad, and Keamari Town, where alternate water arrangements are often limited. Many locals have requested the government to improve Karachi’s water infrastructure to avoid repeated suspensions.
