Pakistan, known for its rich history and culture, also hides a spooky side filled with ghost stories and mysterious places.

From old forts to lonely mountain peaks, many spots are said to be haunted — especially as Halloween brings these tales back to life. Here are some of Pakistan’s most famous haunted locations.

Mohatta Palace, Karachi

This grand palace from the British era is said to be haunted. Guards claim to see lights turning on by themselves, hear whispers, and notice objects moving without reason. The palace’s beauty hides an eerie mystery that keeps visitors uneasy after dark.

Karsaz Road, Karachi

This road is famous for the legend of a woman in a red bridal dress. Drivers say they’ve seen her late at night, waving for help before disappearing into thin air. The story goes that she’s the ghost of a bride who died in a tragic car accident nearby.

Koh-i-Chiltan Peak, Balochistan

Locals believe this mountain is haunted by the cries of 40 children abandoned long ago by their parents. The chilling sounds of wailing are said to echo across the lonely peak, making it one of the most feared spots in the region.

Rohtas Fort, Jhelum

Built in the 16th century, this massive fort has an unsettling atmosphere. Some visitors say they feel like they’re being watched. The “Talaqi Gate” is considered cursed, and many believe the spirits of ancient soldiers still guard the place.

Shah Allah Ditta Caves, Islamabad

These ancient caves, surrounded by old banyan trees, are believed to hold dark energy. People who visit at night claim to feel strange presences or hear footsteps following them. Once used by travelers, the caves now carry an air of mystery and fear.

Sheikhupura Fort, Lahore

According to locals, the spirit of a queen still roams this old fort. Workers report seeing shadowy figures and hearing voices. Many avoid entering the building after dark because of its ghostly reputation.

Altit Fort, Hunza Valley

This 900-year-old fort has a dark history. It’s said that a prince was buried alive inside one of its walls by his own brother. Some also tell stories of a heartbroken woman whose spirit still haunts the area.

Sheosar Lake, Skardu

Located in the Deosai Plains, this beautiful lake is surrounded by eerie legends. Locals call it “Blind Lake” and believe supernatural beings live there. During winter, when everything is frozen and silent, the lake’s mysterious aura feels even stronger.

Khajak Tunnel, Balochistan

Built in 1891, this railway tunnel is rumored to be haunted by workers who died during construction. The cold, dark passage under the mountains gives travelers an uneasy feeling, as if unseen eyes are watching them.

Shamshan Ghaat, Lahore

This old Hindu cremation ground is considered one of the most haunted spots in Lahore. People living nearby say they hear strange noises and the laughter of unseen children after sunset. It’s a place where restless spirits are believed to linger.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, these stories continue to haunt Pakistan’s history — adding a spooky touch to its already fascinating past.
