Trump Warns Nigeria: US May Cut Aid, Take Military Action
Washington: US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States may immediately stop all aid to Nigeria and order military action if the Nigerian government fails to stop attacks against Christians in the country.
Trump posted on social media platform Truth Social, instructing the U.S. Department of War (Pentagon) to prepare for a “fast and strong” response. He said the U.S. could go into Nigeria “guns-a-blazing” to target terrorists responsible for the violence.
Following Trump’s statement, Pentagon officials confirmed they are making preparations but have not announced any specific operation or timeline.
Nigeria’s President has rejected the accusations, saying his government is taking steps to end violence in the country.
Experts have warned that such statements could increase diplomatic tensions and instability in the region.
