Pakistan’s boxing star Fatima Zahra has created history by winning the nation’s first medal at the ongoing 6th Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 in Riyadh. She advanced to the semifinals of the women’s -60 kg category, guaranteeing at least a bronze medal for Pakistan.

The 27-year-old from Sargodha delivered a remarkable performance against Algeria’s Hamda Melissa, winning the fight 5–0. Fatima’s powerful punches, perfect timing, and disciplined defense helped her dominate all three rounds with ease.

From the first bell, Fatima controlled the ring. Her sharp jabs and quick movements frustrated her opponent, who tried to fight back in the later rounds. But the Pakistani boxer stayed calm and composed, securing a clean sweep victory on all judges’ scorecards.

Fatima Zahra began her boxing journey in 2018 and has since become Pakistan’s most reliable female boxer. She has won four consecutive national championships and represented the country in the Asian Games and Olympic qualifiers. Her progress has inspired many young women across Pakistan to take up the sport.

Pakistan has sent 55 athletes to compete in multiple sports, including Athletics, Wushu, Swimming, Boxing, Fencing, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, and Wrestling. Fatima’s victory marks Pakistan’s first confirmed podium finish of the Games.

Fatima Zahra’s success is more than just a medal — it represents the rise of women’s sports in Pakistan. Her dedication, talent, and determination have opened new doors for the next generation of Pakistani female boxers.

Her semifinal match schedule will be announced soon, but no matter the result, Fatima has already made the nation proud by putting Pakistan on the medal table in Riyadh.
