Iran Denies Plot to Assassinate Israeli Ambassador in Mexico

08 November, 2025 12:33

Tehran: Iran has strongly denied allegations by US and Israeli officials that it plotted to assassinate Israel’s ambassador to Mexico, calling the claims a “media fabrication and blatant lie.”

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, the Iranian Embassy in Mexico rejected the accusations and said they were meant to damage friendly relations between Iran and Mexico. The embassy called the reports false and politically motivated, saying such tactics have been used before to harm Iran’s global image.

The Iranian Embassy said Iran and Mexico enjoy long-standing, positive relations based on mutual respect and cooperation.

“The security and reputation of Mexico are also the security and reputation of Iran,” the statement read.
Iran added that it would never act against Mexico’s interests or harm its relationship with the Mexican government.

Tehran also dismissed accusations of anti-Semitism, calling them lies spread by the Israeli occupation.
Iran pointed out that it has over 100 active synagogues, all open to the public without the need for security guards.
The statement added that no harassment of Iranian Jews was reported, even during Israel’s June attacks on Iran.

The Mexican government also rejected the US and Israeli claims.
In a joint statement, Mexico’s Foreign Ministry and Security Ministry confirmed that they had no record or report of any assassination attempt against the Israeli ambassador, Einat Kranz-Neiger.

Despite Mexico’s denial, unnamed US and Israeli officials told the Associated Press that a joint operation allegedly foiled an Iranian plot in Mexico. However, they did not provide any evidence or details about how the alleged plot was discovered or stopped.

Iran said the story was part of a disinformation campaign to create fear and isolate Tehran internationally. The embassy urged the media and governments to avoid spreading baseless accusations that could harm diplomatic trust.
