PPSC introduces new merit system for 2026 jobs - Check full details
The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has announced major reforms to improve its merit system for provincial jobs, effective January 2026.
Previously, candidates were given extra marks based on their educational degrees. However, this practice will be discontinued starting January 1, 2026.
PPSC Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Abdul Aziz said that from 2026 onward, merit will be determined only by written exam results and interviews, with greater weight on exam scores. He also confirmed that additional marks for research work and non-clinical experience will be removed.
The reforms aim to create a uniform, fair, and transparent recruitment process. According to the PPSC Secretary, these changes align with international best practices, ensuring impartiality and equal opportunities for all candidates.
Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Abdul Aziz emphasized the commission’s dedication to transparency, neutrality, and merit-based selection for every applicant.
The PPSC is responsible for selecting and recommending candidates through a merit-based and transparent process to promote excellence, professionalism, and competence in the Punjab Public Service.
