Russian Delegation Visits Model College in Islamabad, Promotes Education

In preparation for the 10th session of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission, a Russian delegation visited the Model College for Boys in Islamabad, where the Russian language is taught.

The event was attended by Ambassador Albert P. Khorev; Eduard Sheremetsev, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Energy; Elena Grudina, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education; and representatives from the Russian Ministry of Education.

Both the Russian and Pakistani sides emphasized the importance of educational cooperation between the two countries and discussed collaboration within the framework of the working group on educational cooperation.

Russia pays close attention to promoting the Russian language in Pakistan. Russian language centers operate in Islamabad, Karachi, Sargodha and other Pakistani cities. Currently, more than 1,000 Pakistani students are studying at Russian universities. Plans are also underway to establish a Russian school that will adhere to Russian and Pakistani educational standards.

The 10th milestone meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled for today November 27 in Islamabad. It will be co-chaired by Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and Pakistani Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari.
