Weather Update: Cold, Dry Conditions Across Pakistan with Fog in Plains

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued an update indicating that “most parts of the country will experience cold and dry weather, while hilly areas will remain extremely cold during mornings and nights.”

According to the department, “there is a possibility of fog during morning and night in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

The forecast suggests that over the next few days, “temperatures in northern areas are expected to drop further during the day and night,” while fog in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to gradually increase.

During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country, with severe cold in hilly regions. Some plain districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also experienced fog. The minimum temperature was recorded at -11°C in Skardu.

Meanwhile, Lahore continues to struggle with poor air quality, ranking fifth among the most polluted cities in the country. “The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore was recorded at 199, with the highest AQI of 810 in the Civil Secretariat area.”

Authorities have urged residents to take precautions against extreme cold, dense fog, and poor air quality.
