Atta Tarar Lambasts Imran Khan's Sisters for Appearing on Indian Channels
Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has strongly criticized the sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan for “harming” the country’s reputation by appearing on Indian media platforms.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore on Sunday, Tarar alleged that these appearances were being used to spread “propaganda” against Pakistan.
“Why did they [Imran’s sisters] not raise the Kashmir issue or Marka-e-Haq when speaking to Indian channels… they appeared on Indian channels to defame the country… propaganda is being spread today on Indian and Afghan media,” he said.
Tarar added, “I wish Noreen Niazi had talked about the seven planes that were shot down. Instead, she goes there and cries for a person facing a £190 million corruption case.” He further stated that Imran Khan’s sisters “should be ashamed” for giving interviews on Indian platforms, which he claims act against Pakistan’s interests.
The minister also targeted senior PTI leadership, alleging that close family members of the party’s founder had participated in what he described as anti-Pakistan narratives abroad. He accused the PTI of attempting to weaken national institutions through misinformation and political agitation.
Speaking on governance issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Tarar criticized the provincial government for failing to curb illegal activities such as non-custom-paid vehicles, illegal mining, and drug trafficking. He alleged that “the pockets of those in power in KP are being filled” and claimed that billions in potential tax revenue are being lost due to lack of regulation. Tarar also highlighted the tobacco sector as a major revenue source if taxed properly and linked ongoing issues to a “political-terror-crime nexus.”
On security matters, the minister said the armed forces had responded strongly to recent cross-border attacks. “When there was infiltration from Afghanistan, our army gave a full response,” he stated.
Regarding the economy, Tarar asserted that the government is improving conditions, citing decreased inflation, increased foreign exchange reserves, and smoother export operations. He claimed PTI leaders “know nothing about economic policy” and are disconnected from current economic realities.
