03 December, 2025 16:08

Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced Overwatch 2 Season 20, set to launch on December 9, 2025. The upcoming season promises a mix of vengeance-themed content, winter festivities, and significant competitive improvements aimed at enhancing the player experience.

With Season 19 ending soon, players have until December 9 to complete their Battle Passes. In addition, fans can participate in “Competitive Drives” starting December 4 to earn unique Signatures and Competitive Points before the seasonal reset.

Overwatch 2 New Hero: Vendetta Joins the Game

The highlight of Season 20 is Marzia Bartalotti, also known as “Vendetta” (or “La Lupa”). As the daughter of former Talon executive Antonio Giordani, she has vowed vengeance against both Talon and Overwatch.

Vendetta is Overwatch 2’s first true Melee Damage hero, featuring a highly mobile, aggressive playstyle with lunges, slices, and leaps for close-quarters combat. Blizzard describes her combat style as “regal and ruthless,” making her a formidable presence on the battlefield.

Winter Wonderland & Avatar Collaboration Return

The Winter Wonderland event runs from December 9 to January 7, featuring a three-path reward system. Players can earn Winter Cookies to unlock skins including Jingle Tracer, Krampus Junkrat, and Santa Claus Torbjorn.

The popular prop hunt mode, “Mischief & Magic”, also returns with new twists:

  • Dec 9–22: Classic winter-themed prop hunt.
  • Dec 23–Jan 5: “Wonderland Twist” where props fight back, granting Kiriko powers like exploding snowmen or biting gingerbread.

Players can also earn Frozen Demon Junkrat and Frozen Mountaineer Cassidy through event challenges.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration returns from December 16 to December 29, with skins including Katara Mei, Aang Zenyatta, and Toph Venture.

Competitive and System Updates
Season 20 introduces several requested competitive features, including a Rank Refund System, which restores lost rank progress if a match is lost to a player later banned for cheating.

Other competitive updates include:

  • Challenger Score: Win streaks and queue bonuses now have more influence on progression.
  • Top 500 Visibility: Top-ranked players gain social visibility to highlight community champions.
  • Stadium Updates: A new China Control map, additional characters Doomfist and Wuyang, and a Top 500 tier with the League 6 Reaper Chase skin as a reward.

Blizzard also introduces a Gifting System via Battle.net, allowing players to gift Battle Passes and currency bundles to friends.

Season 20 brings new cosmetic content:

  • Cassidy: Receives the Mythic Hero Skin “Divine Desperado”, a solar deity transformation with customizable colorways.
  • Orisa: Receives the Mythic Weapon Skin “Capsule Cannon”, turning her weapon into a sparkling gacha machine.

The Battle Pass and Shop Collections feature extensive rewards, including Yukizaru Genji, Celestial Venture, Colder: 76, Frost Lich Reaper, the High Society Vendetta bundle, Reindeer Tracer, and seasonal collections like Cozy, Borealis, and Heist.

Overwatch 2 Season 20 promises a mix of exciting new gameplay, cosmetic updates, and competitive enhancements for both casual and hardcore players alike.
