Dambulla Stadium Weather Update: Rain delays Pak vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I toss

09 January, 2026 18:54

The toss for the second T20I match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has been delayed due to heavy rain at the Dambulla International Stadium. Weather forecasts had already predicted rainfall, and the rain has been continuous since morning, causing a heavy downpour across the city.

At the moment, the entire ground is fully covered, and the rain has shown no signs of slowing down. Because of these conditions, the start of the much-awaited match has been delayed. Pakistan are currently leading the series 1-0 after defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the first T20I, which was also played at the same venue.

Weather Update from Dambulla

According to AccuWeather, around two more hours of rain are expected at the Dambulla International Stadium. The temperature is around 20°C, with winds blowing at about 26 km/h. Humidity levels are very high at nearly 90%, which could create tough conditions for players, especially the bowlers.

Even if the rain stops, the forecast suggests light drizzles at short intervals, which could lead to multiple interruptions during the match. The ground staff are currently working hard to prepare the field, but it remains a big challenge due to the wet conditions.

Many fans are concerned that some overs might be lost if the rain continues. However, there is still hope. Rain had also delayed the first T20I, but it stopped just in time, allowing the full match to be played without any interruptions.

Fans will be hoping for a similar turnaround this time so that the match can begin as planned.
