SBCA Sets Three-Day Deadline for Fire Safety Equipment in Karachi Buildings

21 January, 2026 13:20

A three-day deadline has been set by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) for the installation of fire safety equipment in Karachi’s buildings.

The chairman of the relevant authorities has received a formal letter ordering prompt compliance, according to the SBCA.

The letter mandates that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) fire safety audit be carried out as soon as possible.

Builders and property owners who have not implemented the recommended safety measures have three days to do so, according to the SBCA.

The authority emphasized that putting fire safety measures into place as soon as possible is crucial to averting similar deaths and serves Karachi’s larger interests.

Six buildings in District South and District East had fire safety audits on the same day, according to Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.

In order to save lives and property, he asked all building owners to make sure that appropriate fire safety measures are in place and to treat the issue seriously.
