Varun Dhawan Responds to Trolls Over Border 2
Varun Dhawan’s casting in Border 2 has faced online trolling, with some critics questioning his performance. Responding to the backlash, the actor asked critics to “wait for Friday.”
In January 2026, the tribute trailer Braves of the Soil was launched in Mumbai. During the event, Varun Dhawan confidently addressed the criticism sparked by his appearance in the song.
Varun chose not to speak loudly against the noise, instead letting his work do the talking, reflecting that social media trolling and opinions do not affect him. He stated that the real judgment would be delivered in theatres this Friday, saying, “What I worked for, you will find out this Friday.”
The Border 2 actor also emphasized that his sole focus was on making a “good film,” despite the viral memes and discussions around box office numbers.
Additionally, when a social media user questioned Varun’s acting in the song, Dhawan responded that these very questions helped make the song a hit.
Original Border star Sunny Deol also came out in support of Varun, stating that it is unfair to judge an actor based on a short clip. He added that Varun would “kill it” in the film.
Meanwhile, the producers of Border 2 shut down the criticism, claiming that a “paid smear campaign” was behind the trolling and negative feedback.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 features Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a real-life Param Vir Chakra awardee from the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
