Who Is Medha Rana? Varun Dhawan’s Co-Star in Border 2 From Army Background

Medha Rana, the rising star set to play opposite Varun Dhawan in the highly anticipated war drama Border 2, began her career as a model at just 16, working with notable figures like Arjun Rampal and Babil Khan. The film, featuring a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, and Anya Singh, is slated for release on January 23, 2026, generating immense excitement among fans.

Born in December 1999 in Bangalore, Medha hails from a disciplined Army background. She attended Carmel Convent School in Chandigarh before continuing her education at Army Public School in Bengaluru, and later enrolled in a BBA program at Christ University. Her father’s army postings influenced her upbringing and instilled in her a strong sense of discipline.

Medha’s entry into modelling began at 13 when she met Bengaluru-based fashion stylist Prasad Bidapa. Initially focusing on her studies, she pursued modelling seriously at 16, which led to opportunities in commercials for brands like Ponds, Lenskart, TRESemmé, Cadbury, Livon, and Nescafé. She then transitioned into acting, making her debut with the 2022 crime thriller web series London Files alongside Arjun Rampal, followed by appearances in Netflix’s Friday Night Plan with Babil Khan, and the Prime Video documentary Dancing on the Grave. She has also featured in music videos such as Armaan Malik’s Barsaat, Anuv Jain’s Gul, and Aastha Gill’s Dil Kissko Du.

Medha, who is 12 years younger than Varun Dhawan, has impressed the Border 2 team with her natural acting skills. Producer Bhushan Kumar stated, “It was imperative for us to find someone who could naturally embody the dialect, spirit, and rooted essence of the region. Medha impressed the team not just with her raw talent, but with her effortless command over the regional dialect and her emotional range as an actor. We truly believe she will bring depth and realism to the role.”
