Expected Bank Timings in Ramadan 2026

26 January, 2026 12:38

Islamabad, January 26, 2026: With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, banks across Pakistan are expected to adjust their operating hours to accommodate fasting employees and customers. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has not yet announced the official timings for 2026, but last year’s schedule can give a clear idea of what to expect.

Adjusted Banking Hours During Ramadan

In the previous year, SBP directed banks and financial institutions to follow a special Ramadan schedule. The timings were as follows:

Monday to Thursday:

  • Office Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a prayer break from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • Public Dealing Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., without any breaks.

Friday:

  • Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., without any breaks.

  • Public Dealing Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., without any breaks.

These adjustments were designed to ensure smooth banking operations while making it easier for customers to complete their transactions during the fasting month.

Bank Holiday on the First Day of Ramadan

Traditionally, the SBP declares the first day of Ramadan as a Bank Holiday for Zakat deduction purposes. On this day, all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) remain closed to the public.

Employees, however, report to work to carry out internal operations and ensure the systematic deduction of Zakat from eligible accounts, as mandated by Pakistani law.

Resumption of Regular Hours After Ramadan

After the conclusion of Ramadan and the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, banks return to their normal operating hours. Customers are advised to plan ahead for their banking needs and stay updated via official SBP announcements or their local branches.
