Who is Rao Abdul Karim? Complete Biography of New IG Punjab

The government has appointed Rao Abdul Karim as the new Inspector General (IG) of Punjab, and the official notification has been issued.

At the same time, Retired Captain Usman Anwar has been appointed as Director General (DG) of FIA, while the current DG FIA Rifat Mukhtar has been directed to report to the Establishment Division.

Last night, the Punjab government had sent three names for the post of IG Punjab to the federal government, including Waseem Sial, Bilal Kaimiana, and Rao Abdul Karim.

Interior Minister Moeen Naqvi congratulated Usman Anwar on taking charge as DG FIA, praising his leadership for modernizing and professionalizing the Punjab Police.

Rao Abdul Karim was serving as Additional Inspector General of Police, Special Branch, Punjab, before his elevation. He has previously held key positions, including Additional IG Patrol Police, Regional Police Officer Gujranwala, DIG Training, and DIG Traffic Punjab.

Under Usman Anwar’s leadership, a new phase will begin at the FIA. Significant reforms are expected, and the public can look forward to practical and visible improvements in the coming months.
