Targeting Places of Worship Has No Place in Civilized Society: MWM Chief
The Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) has strongly condemned the act of terrorism at the Khadijat-ul-Kubra Mosque in Islamabad. MWM chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri characterized the attack as a cowardly act by anti-national elements targeting innocent worshippers.
The MWM leadership stated that the primary aim of such terrorism is to sabotage peace and order within Pakistan and to incite sectarian hatred. The party further emphasized that targeting places of worship constitutes a direct attack on humanity, religion, and fundamental social values, asserting that such brutality has no place in a civilized society.
On the other hand several other leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his profound sorrow over the explosion, sending his condolences to the families of those martyred and praying for their patience. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also denounced the bombing as a cowardly act, conveying his grief over the martyrdoms in the explosion.
Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail also expressed their horror at the event, with Ismail questioning how such a brutal act could be committed against worshippers during a religious service.
The incident was described as “absolutely horrendous” by former finance minister Miftah Ismail, who questioned how someone could bomb Friday services in a mosque.
