Punjab Boards introduce biometric registration for exams – check details

LAHORE: All Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Punjab have made biometric attendance mandatory for matric and intermediate exams.

According to a letter issued by BISE Lahore, the decision has been taken under the directions of Mr. Muzammil Mahmood, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Task Force on Examination Reforms, along with instructions from the Higher Education and School Education Department of Punjab.

The letter stated, “You are hereby informed that, in accordance with the directions of Mr. Muzammil Mahmood, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Task Force on Examinations reforms, and the instructions issued by the Higher Education / School Education Department, Punjab, biometric attendance of all candidates has been made mandatory at all examination centers established under the jurisdiction of the Boards,”

It further added, “For this purpose, during the registration process of Class IX (SSC) and Class XI (HSSC), live scanning of fingerprints of both thumbs of all candidates shall be compulsory,”

The board has directed all schools and colleges to complete the necessary arrangements on time. The letter said that the head of each institution will be responsible for arranging a thumb-scanning device as per the technical guidelines provided by the board.

It also mentioned, “The institution shall arrange a laptop for the biometric verification process. The biometric scanning process shall be carried out through the software/application provided by the Board,”

The board warned that thumb impressions of both hands must be scanned during registration. Any delay or negligence will be the responsibility of the head of the institution.

For biometric registration, both regular and private students will need to visit their respective schools or colleges to register their thumb impressions.
