Wifaq ul Madaris Strongly Condemns Tarlai Mosque Suicide Attack
ISLAMABAD: Wifaq ul Madaris Al Arabia Pakistan called the suicide attack on a mosque in Tarlai, Islamabad, a cruel and terrible act and strongly denounced it on Sunday.
At least 33 worshippers were killed and numerous more were injured when the suicide bomber set off explosives inside a mosque in Tarlai Kalan on Friday.
The attack on the Islamabad imambargah was deemed tragic and strongly condemned by the leadership of Wifaq ul Madaris Al Arabia Pakistan, which included Secretary General Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari, Senior Vice President Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq, President Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, and other high-ranking officials, in a statement.
According to them, Islam forbids the murder of innocent people and the spilling of blood in any situation. The statement went on to say that people who attack religious seminaries, mosques, and imambargahs are not worthy of being referred to as human.
The leading clergy cautioned that such violence would only drive Pakistan closer to anarchy and instability. They called for the tracing and exemplary justice of the whole network responsible for this heinous atrocity.
The leaders also called on the government to guarantee complete protection for all of the nation’s mosques, imambargahs, and religious seminaries.
Security authorities have detained all those engaged in the suicide attack on the Tarlai mosque, including the suspected Afghan national mastermind connected to the outlawed terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS), according to earlier statements made by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The interior minister told to media in Islamabad that four facilitators were taken into custody by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) during searches in Peshawar and Nowshera. He went on to say that during the operations, a security official was martyred and other others were hurt.
Mohsin Naqvi further asserted that ISIS fighters with external support, stationed in Afghanistan, plotted the attack. He claimed that the attackers’ travel history was used by authorities to track down the suspects, and that both the planning and the training took place over the border.
