09 February, 2026 10:10

The UAE Fatwa Council has announced the official amounts for Zakat al-Fitr and Fidya for Ramadan 2026. Following a field price study conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the council set the official food and cash rates for Ramadan-related charitable obligations.

The council specified that Zakat al-Fitr is 2.5 kg of rice per person or 25 AED in cash. For those unable to fast, Fidya requires feeding a needy person 3.25 kg of wheat or 20 AED per day, with the same 20 AED rate applying per person for Fidya payments.

For broken fasts, the Fidya has been fixed at 1,200 AED, to be distributed among 60 deserving individuals, while Fidya for prohibited acts during Hajj or Umrah is set at 120 AED, distributed to six eligible recipients. The minimum cost for an Iftar meal has been set at 20 AED.

The Fatwa Council emphasized that “every Muslim man and woman with means is obliged to pay Fitrana,” noting that Zakat al-Fitr is charity given to those in need during the holy month of Ramadan and can be paid from the start of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr morning, before the Eid prayer.

The public has been urged to make payments through Zakat funds, Emirates Red Crescent, and other approved charitable organizations in the UAE to ensure proper distribution to those in need.
