Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Delhi’s Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court rejected his final plea for time in a cheque bounce case linked to his 2010 film Ata Pata Laapata.
Actor Rajpal Yadav has been in the news for his name attached to the cheque bounce case. The actor has been going through a tough time amidst legal and financial troubles and was asked to surrender at Tihar jail in cheque bounce case of approximately Rs 2.5 crore. Now as per a recent report, His alleged emotional words before entering the jail are going viral right before surrendering himself to the authorities.
To repay the Loan Dhol actor issued cheques, but many of hem bounced, and it become a large amount including interest and penalties, grew to around Rs 9 crore. Although including ₹ 75 lakh in 2025 Rajpal repaid part of the dues over time. Still, frequent postponements and missed deadlines commanded the court to question his committed, seeing his “lack of seriousness” in resolving the matter. On February 4, 2026, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma dismissed Yadav’s final request for a one-week extension to arrange funds. The court made it clear that repeated leniency could not be granted, irrespective of one’s fame, and directed the actor to surrender without delay.
Before incarcerate to jail, Yadav broke down in court and said, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta. Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”
