Vehicle Number Plates Now Linked to Owner’s NIC in Sindh

Karachi: The Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2024 regarding vehicle number plates has officially been implemented.

The Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Taxation Control Department issued a notification stating that vehicle owners will now personally own the number plate registered under their National Identity Card (NIC). According to a department spokesperson, two new number series have been introduced for this purpose.

Under the new regulations, owners are permitted to transfer an old number plate registered to their NIC onto a newly purchased vehicle.
