TTAP Ends Parliament Sit-In Over Imran Khan’s Health

18 February, 2026 13:44

Islamabad, February 18, 2026 – The opposition alliance Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aiyeen Pakistan (TTAP) announced on Wednesday that it is ending its sit-in at Parliament House, which was staged over the health of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

TTAP leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas told media that the protest was launched solely due to concerns about Imran Khan’s health. He added that the matter had also been taken to court, and the central demand remained that the PTI founder’s personal doctors be allowed to meet him.

He alleged that during the sit-in, parliament was effectively turned into a “jail,” with protesters facing blocked routes and restrictions inside the precincts.

When reports surfaced about Imran Khan’s eye condition, Mahmood Khan Achakzai proposed a hunger strike, prompting the alliance to intensify the protest to ensure access to the detained leader’s doctors.

Announcing the wrap-up, Allama Nasir Abbas expressed hope for improvement in Imran Khan’s eyesight and urged that he be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for further treatment. He also said the emotions of the PTI founder’s sisters were justified and they should be allowed to meet him.

KP CM Announces “Street Movement”

Separately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi stated that he had been assigned the responsibility of leading a “street movement” on behalf of Imran Khan. He claimed that court orders were being ignored and that the PTI leader was still being denied access to his personal doctors.

Afridi announced the formation of a “PTI founder release force”, which will pursue a peaceful struggle. Members of the force are expected to take an oath in Peshawar immediately after Eid.

According to Afridi, the movement will uphold the supremacy of the Constitution, democracy, and an independent media, with Imran Khan deciding who will hold command responsibilities within the force.

This is a developing story, and updates will follow as further details emerge.
