Govt ensures gas and power supply during Sehri and Iftar
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced that gas supply will be ensured during Sehri and Iftar hours across the country in the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Power Minister Awais Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said that full arrangements have been made to provide gas at “maximum pressure” from 3am to 10:30pm during Ramadan.
To make things easier for consumers, the minister said that “additional volume” of gas has also been arranged.
He further shared that “situation rooms” have been set up at the head offices of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). These rooms will help ensure uninterrupted gas supply and allow quick response to public complaints.
Regional offices have also been directed to closely monitor gas supply, especially in tail-end areas. The minister added that all complaints will be handled according to the rules of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
“With all these efforts, the Power Division and the Petroleum Division are trying to become a source of ease during the holy month,” the minister said.
On the occasion, Awais Leghari assured that there will be no electricity loadshedding during Sehr and Iftar timings. He said this decision was taken on the special instructions of Shehbaz Sharif to facilitate people across the country.
He added that both the Power Division and Petroleum Division reviewed the situation carefully and finalised arrangements to prevent any power or gas outages during Sehri and Iftar anywhere in Pakistan.
Even in high-loss or technically sensitive areas, electricity supply will remain uninterrupted during these hours. In case of any major technical fault, immediate steps will be taken to restore power.
Leghari also said that a special control room has been established to monitor electricity feeders nationwide. He advised people to call helpline number 118 if they face any electricity issue, assuring that complaints will be resolved quickly.
