Who Is Michael Hupy? Man Offers $100,000 for Nancy Guthrie Details

19 February, 2026 12:57

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has continued to dominate headlines nationwide. Despite ongoing efforts from investigators, there are no confirmed suspects and limited leads. The 84-year-old TODAY show co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1, 2026. Authorities believe she may have been abducted, and both the FBI and local law enforcement are actively investigating the case.

A recent development has reignited public attention: Michael Hupy, a private citizen and prominent attorney, has offered a substantial financial reward to encourage credible tips regarding Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.

Who is Michael Hupy?

Michael Hupy is a senior partner at Hupy and Abraham, S.C., a well-known American law firm specializing in personal injury cases. According to his firm, Michael has secured multi-million-dollar settlements for clients, including a USD 22 million verdict for an injured child. Beyond his legal career, he is the president of Crime Stoppers of Milwaukee, an organization that supports law enforcement by providing anonymous tips and financial rewards to help solve crimes.

Hupy has also been recognized for his civic contributions, reportedly donating more than USD 1 million to community causes and receiving a Certificate of Commendation in 2008.

Why Michael Hupy is Offering a $100,000 Reward

According to Hindustan Times, Hupy has added an extra USD 100,000 to the reward pool for Nancy Guthrie’s case, increasing total potential payouts to more than USD 200,000, including contributions from the FBI and local Crime Stoppers programs.

Michael explained his motivation for the reward, stating:
“I was just kind of appalled that they never enlisted Crime Stoppers’ help at the beginning or much sooner, and I finally decided if no one else is going to do it, I’d better do it. They’re sent to a location where they’re paid, and no one ever knows their name, and if somebody has a phony tip, they’re not going to get a reward in advance because there has to be an arrest.”

New Developments in Nancy Guthrie’s Case

Nancy Guthrie has now been missing for more than two weeks. TMZ recently reported the arrival of a fourth ransom note, allegedly sent via email, demanding USD 50,000 in Bitcoin in exchange for information about her location. The note claimed Nancy had been seen “South of the border” and suggested multiple individuals were involved in her abduction. Harvey Levin, founder of TMZ, urged the sender to share the information with authorities. While law enforcement has not confirmed the credibility of the ransom note, investigations are underway.

Michael Hupy’s substantial reward underscores the critical role of anonymous tip programs in helping law enforcement solve serious crimes, and the case continues to attract significant national attention.
