Drone Attack on Kurdish PM’s Office Was a False Flag, Says Iran FM
Iran has strongly rejected allegations that it was involved in a drone attack on the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the attack as a planned “false flag operation” aimed at blaming and damaging Iran.
During a phone call with Iraq’s foreign minister, Araghchi said there was no logical or military justification for the attack on Barzani’s office.
He also said there was no evidence proving that the attack was launched from Iranian territory.
Araghchi highlighted Iran’s long-standing relations with the Kurdish people and said Iran has supported its Kurdish friends during difficult times, including against the former regime of Saddam Hussein and the threat posed by ISIS.
He also thanked the Kurdish people for helping maintain security and stability along the shared border with Iran.
Araghchi said Iran would not allow any attempt to damage relations between Iran and the Kurdistan Region to succeed.
