Iran and Russia Enjoy Closest Relations in History, Says Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Tehran and Moscow are enjoying the closest relations in their history following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Tehran. In a post on X on Tuesday, Araghchi said the two sides held timely discussions on regional and international developments, alongside efforts to expand economic and nuclear cooperation.
Araghchi said the talks covered a wide range of issues, from Europe to West Asia, including Lebanon, Palestine, Ukraine and Yemen. During a joint press conference on Monday, he highlighted the close cooperation and regular consultations between the two countries. He also stressed that regional disputes could not be resolved through military means and should instead be addressed through diplomatic and political channels.
The Iranian foreign minister said cooperation between Tehran and Moscow could contribute to regional stability. Lavrov arrived in Tehran on Monday at the head of a diplomatic delegation to meet senior Iranian officials, marking his first visit to Iran since the US-Israeli war against the country began nearly eight months ago. The discussions underscore the continued strengthening of bilateral ties amid heightened regional tensions and broader international challenges.
