Israel Trying to Sabotage Islamabad MoU, Says Iran’s Foreign Minister

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Israel of attempting to undermine the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, saying Tehran remains determined to protect the diplomatic understanding reached amid regional tensions.

Addressing a gathering in Tehran, Araghchi said the United States had failed to achieve its objective of forcing Iran into unconditional surrender, claiming that Iran’s resistance prevented its adversaries from achieving their stated goals.

The Iranian foreign minister said attempts to create divisions inside Iran and push for regime change had also failed.

According to Araghchi, the situation changed shortly after the conflict began when the opposing side sought negotiations. He said Iran subsequently agreed to a ceasefire and negotiations on terms that served its interests.

Araghchi maintained that Tehran entered the diplomatic process from a position of strength and confidence rather than weakness.

The Iranian foreign minister said most provisions of the agreement reached through negotiations were favourable to Iran.

He emphasised that the diplomatic outcome should not be viewed as the achievement of the Foreign Ministry or any individual official, but as a victory for the Iranian people.

Araghchi also stressed the importance of national strength in the current international environment, arguing that a country’s ability to protect its interests remains closely linked to its overall power.

According to Araghchi, Iran’s missile capabilities played a central role during the confrontation with the United States and Israel.

He argued that Iran’s military strength helped shape the course of the conflict and strengthened Tehran’s position at the negotiating table.

The Iranian foreign minister’s remarks come amid continued diplomatic activity surrounding the Islamabad understanding, with Tehran maintaining that efforts to undermine the agreement must not be allowed to derail the diplomatic process.

Iran’s latest position also underscores its emphasis on combining military preparedness with diplomatic engagement, while portraying the country’s resistance and subsequent negotiations as evidence that Tehran can defend its interests under intense pressure.
