Is Tommaso Cioni Still Not Cleared? Debate Grows in Nancy Guthrie Case

20 February, 2026 11:29

It has been 20 days since 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona. The case has now expanded internationally, and public discussion has once again turned toward her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni.

Nancy, the mother of NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on the night of January 31, 2026. She had returned home after having dinner at her daughter Annie’s house.

Reports say Tommaso Cioni dropped her off at around 9:50 p.m. She was reported missing the next morning after she did not attend church. Authorities believe she may have been abducted overnight.

Earlier, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated that all family members, including Tommaso Cioni, had been cleared and were not considered suspects. Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized that no one had been officially named a suspect in the case.

However, journalist Megyn Kelly recently said on her show that it would be inappropriate not to question the last person who saw Nancy alive. Her comments reignited public debate.

Officials have responded by warning against speculation. Sheriff Nanos said the investigation is still ongoing and no conclusions have been reached about anyone’s involvement.

The case took another turn after reports of a ransom note suggesting Nancy may still be alive. Authorities are now working with federal agencies and Mexican officials as part of the search.

So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active. Law enforcement continues to follow leads while urging the public not to jump to conclusions.
