PMD forecasts rain and thunderstorms in northern Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert, forecasting rain and thundershowers in several northern areas of Pakistan from March 6 to March 11.
According to the PMD, intermittent rain with thunderstorms is expected in parts of Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, and Abbottabad during this period.
Weather is also expected to be partly cloudy with chances of rain and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir between March 6 and March 11.
Rain with thundershowers is also likely in Islamabad, the Potohar Plateau, and hill stations including Murree, Galiyat, and nearby areas.
The Met Office also warned that temperatures in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could rise 6 to 8°C above normal in the coming days. A similar increase of 5 to 7°C is expected in Sindh and Balochistan.
Officials advised residents, especially in northern and hilly regions, to stay cautious during heavy rain and thunderstorms, as these may cause local disruptions.
